We continue exploring Makoa's past, and resolve one of his first cases, in Episode 096: My dice rolls betray me. Makoa and Darrow uncover the shady merchant behind the tragedy. Her correspondence leads to a network of dealers in illegal and morally-dubious magical materials: a rich seam of ne’erdowells for the Solemn Shame to investigate.
As I recall, this was inspired by an incident from a Warhammer rulebook (the real one, not Warhammer 40,000) where a foolhardy youth has got his hands on a necromancer's lost spellbook. This is far more dangerous in Warhammer, a grim and black-humoured setting where magic is just really not a good idea for humans, than in Golarion, where even actual official necromancy includes harmless and benevolent spells that let you sleep comfortably, destroy undead, preserve food, or safely remove your head for comic effect.
